Profile

Kim, Kang W. has a wealth of field experience as a civil society organization activist and has experience in
human rights, disability, abuse, human trafficking, mental health, advocacy, and international cooperation.
He has successfully conducted a number of public interest lawsuits with lawyers to correct disability
discrimination, provided practical help to victims of human rights violations, and worked to improve the
system for the socially vulnerable.
He has contributed to the establishment of rights advocacy systems for the vulnerable, such as
developmental disability support centers, disability rights advocacy agencies, shelters for victims with
disabilities, and human trafficking victims’ rights advocacy agencies, and has worked to ensure equal access
to justice and legal advocacy for the vulnerable by producing manuals and guidelines for securing access to
justice for people with disabilities, providing training to justice workers, and participating in research to
secure the human rights of victims and suspects with disabilities.
Mr. Kim currently serves as a board member of the KAMI(Korean Alliance for Mobilizing Inclusion), and has
also served as a steering committee member of the Civil Society Organization Network in Korea and vice chair
of the NGO Coalition of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
